The Joys of Diwali

The Joys of Diwali

The above picture is a fragment of the last Diwali. It was fun, the last few ones have been. Other than the posterized moment above, there are other things about each Diwali that bookmarks various stages in your life.

The first couple of years your role is limited to that of a viewer. Then you experience the joy of being a participant for the first time, maybe a sparkler, a roman candle or a foul smelling "snake tablets" that spew out black fumes and a snake looking thing.

Next stop, bursting your first cracker, without someone helping you to light the fuse. Once you have done this, you are in the big league, No more sissy sparklers and flower pots. Each diwali after that you want to burst something bigger, something louder, say more "bang" for the buck one that you did last year. The dares are more dangerous now. No more saftey precautions, no more parental supervision. "Lets see who holds on to a lit cracker longer, before it burst !!". Insane you say, of course it is, but the close calls and the play fighting throwing of lit "bijili vedis" at each other makes it that much more fun. Being patrially deaf for a couple of days with the incessant ringing in your ears, definitely is sweet music to me.

The first Diwali after marriage, first Diwali with you kid, the Diwali where your kid burst his or her first cracker, the cycle goes on and on and on... Welcome to this circle of light!!

Looking forward to the next one.

Let there be light!

To blog or not to blog...?

That was the question. Now that the answer for that has been squared off, on to the details. Here I was staring at the screen pondering on what I would blog about, while on the other hand working on some photos that I had taken recently. And then a flash bulb went off in my head about developing this idea ( pun intended..).

A blog that has a picture and a story to tell. So there you go, a picture thats worth a thousand words and then a few more words added in for a good measure.

On the name -- Framed Fragments --

Though I wanted this to be pictureperfect.blogspot.com, I had to chose framedfragments.blogspot.com. Why? Cos if things were picture perfect, I would have got that name, but then again, I think of photography as savouring a particular moment in your life. You frame a fragment of this beautiful thing, thats what framedfragments is gonna be about.

Time to move this concept from the darkroom to your desktops!!!
